STANDARD 4: EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

Standard 4 focuses on the quality of UCI’s undergraduate and graduate educational programs. Specific issues addressed are academic planning; curricular structure and coherence; assessment; integration of research, public service, and teaching; student admissions and retention; and academic credit and records. These are set forth in the following:

• Statistics on the degrees granted in each academic program at UCI for each of the past five years

• Student admissions data

• Self-studies of all academic departments and programs (program reviews are available in the WASC Work Room)

• The criteria and procedures used for admission to UCI and the awarding of academic credit to UCI students

• Rationale behind the general educational program for UCI undergraduates

• Educational/degree objectives for each degree-granting program (as published in the UCI General Catalogue)

• Articulation agreements between UCI and other schools and colleges

• Policies on remedial work

• Student evaluations of faculty and courses (in TEACH, the Teacher Evaluation and Course Handbook)

• The University of California’s policies on research

• UCI policies on faculty and student research

• Materials/forms used in the academic advisement process (available in the WASC Work Room)

• Grade distribution studies

• Public service policies
